Today I worked out shoulders at the HUB gym right here on campus. It was the first time I've gone where it hasn't been absolutely packed. It was one of the best workouts I've had since I've been here I felt so sore after which is a good sign. I trained my shoulders, the workout consisted of seat overhead dumbbell press, lateral raises, front raises and shrugs. My favorite thing about working out here on campus is that the gym is a two minute walk from where I reside which is pretty neat. Although I do enjoy working out here I definitely miss working out at my dad's gym back home. I miss all my friends I'd workout with and the top notch equipment. I think I'm going home this weekend, I'm gonna try getting in a workout at the facility and post some pictures to show you guys what it's like!

I'm gonna mix it up today and instead of posting my workout, I'm gonna ask you guys some questions about yourselves. I don't want to make posts to strangers I wanna get to know my audience on somewhat of a personal level. What fuels you to workout and stay active? For me personally it's a great stress reliever and I love seeing improvements to my body and well-being over time. What type of physical activity do you enjoy the most? From lifting, running, cycling and sports the list goes on and on. I'm not a big cardio fan but I LOVE to lift weights, something about lifting heavy weights makes me feel invincible. Was there something specific that got you started in fitness? I know for me I grew up in a gym between both my parents being avid fitness enthusiasts and seeing them push themselves everyday inspired me at a young age. Drop a comment in the comment box below and answer some of these questions! If you have any other interesting things to share don't hesitate!

My workout today went great I trained legs and will be lucky if I can walk tomorrow. I started with front squats and worked my way into doing RDL's (Romanian Deadlifts), leg curls, lunges and leg extensions. For those of you who don't know front squats are different than back squats it works slightly different muscles and serves to be more challenging for most lifters. The front squat vs. back squat is a significant debate in the lifting community. For me, I personally prefer to front squat although my back squat is stronger I feel like I am challenged more with front squats. If you are interested in learning more on the front squat vs back squat debate visit http://www.mensfitness.com/training/build-muscle/exercise-face-off-front-squat-vs-back-squat this is a great article that discusses front squats and back squats written by true professionals. I've posted a video below showing me warming up on front squats with 135.

Stayin' in Shape at Plymouth State
My name is Tyler and I'm a freshman at Plymouth State University. I love to lift and practically live in a gym. My dad owns one back home and between working out and working the desk I am always there. I was actually lucky enough to land a work study job in the gym here on campus. I have thought about competing in bodybuilding but for right now I mainly lift to stay healthy and get big. Anyways, enough about me and more about my blog. I have created this blog in hopes to inspire/motivate others to either get active or remain active in the fitness world, educate people for those who are less knowledgable and just beginning to become interested in getting physically active and finally to meet people who share a similar passion of lifting weights. I plan on updating my blog at least once a week with anything from updates on my workouts and progress, weightlifting tips, nutrition tips, current debates going on in the lifting community, great educational videos on certain lifts... the list goes on and on. To the right of my page you'll see my Twitter and Instagram feeds where I occasionally post recent workout videos and images. Don't be shy while reading my posts I love discussing weightlifting so if you have any questions or comments make sure
to drop a comment in the comment box below.
